Security is a major concern of London Yard residents. This is clear from the comments posted on the London Yard Chat Group pages. So, as an addition to the paid security guard, we can also help ourselves by operating a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. This website could be used to provide information to residents and the London Yard News by Email facility could be used to issue alerts. For this to work, however, we need a Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator and volunteers for a committee. Email the Editor to be brought together with other volunteers. Results of the Service Charge Survey are now in. It seems that, although the charge to residents of the block containing the business premises in Amsterdam Road, have seen an increase of about 20%, the remainder have risen by about 7%.
After more than seven years on the Board of the London Yard Management Company, Ron Coverson has stepped down to allow more time for his other interests. He said, "I have had to review all of my voluntary activities and I did not feel that I could devote time to the Board". Ron produced the Newsletters until 1999; negotiated the freehold of Amsterdam Road from the LDDC; proposed and still administers the Parking Scheme, pro bono, and helped set up the website. He intends to continue to be involved in the latter as website editor.
