Clear down to Island Gardens

Now that the wall between London Yard and Millennium Wharf has been removed you can walk from London Yard all the way to Island Gardens with a detour around the small Cubitt Wharf block. There are many points of interest on the way including a memorial to five fireman killed when a gas tank exploded in 1969.

The River Walkway from Samuda to Island Gardens has been planned for many years and our local councilor, Martin Young (right) has been pushing for the removal of the final obstacles since Millwall (Millennium) Wharf was redeveloped. Thanks are due to him for his efforts on our behalf. It is sad that he has decided to stand down as a councilor when his present term ends next May. He says that he must, literally, spend more time with his family.

"Dear Mum, ... and then this bluddy big fish came and drank all the water."

BBQ on the River Walkway

Take advantage of the hot summer evenings by having a barbeque on the River Walkway!

These Vermeer Court residents, and their visitors, had a great time cooking Lebanese food, drinking French wine and German beer.

What better way to entertain friends is there?

London Yard Artists Unite

The Website Group wishes to launch a new facility for London Yard residents: pooling the artistic resources on our development! Hence, all you artists out there contact us at  artists@londonyard.com and we will distribute your name and contact details to all the other artistic Yarders.

You may be a poet, dancer, painter, musician, DJ, web-designer, clown/juggler, sculptor, photographer, novelist, video artist, or film director. We would like to hear from you to bring you artistic Yarders together for mutual support and cooperation. After all, with buildings and roads named after Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Vermeer, we may wish to live up to our artistic settings. If the means and opportunities allow, it would be fantastic to have exhibitions by London Yard artists, live concerts and performances. So, London Yard artists, get in touch! artists@londonyard.com

Neighbourhood Watch

We have some volunteers to start a London Yard scheme but more are needed as well as someone prepared to coordinate it. Don't expect to leave it to others - volunteer now! Email editor@londonyard.com
