'The London Yard Community'

A message from Christine Inglis - New Chairman of the Management Company

"I am delighted to be part of the board and look forward to moving the London Yard profile forward and helping make our home an even nicer place to live in the future.   My chairmanship is an interim appointment until the new members are integrated and feel able to make an informed choice.

"Community and communication are the keynotes of the year for the new board.  We want everyone who is interested to be involved in the life of London Yard and have a say.  On the basis that knowing our neighbours makes for comfort and safety, we are all keen on social events and any ideas in this direction will be welcome.

"There will be news from the board on this site and, as it is a two-way communication vehicle, thoughts from the resident community too.     Don’t just watch this space – add to it!"

Christine Inglis

Emails to the Editor

I take on board the comments on the website re the need for improved security. I also accept that the cost of a report from a security consultant could well be prohibitive. Why not bypass the consultancy stage and get a few quotes , both for the CCTV scheme and for gates of various heights , and see what sort of increase in the service charge we'd be looking at. I'm sure a lot of people would be surprisingly receptive to the increases if it both improved their standard of living and the value of their homes , as with the gates.

Editor's Note: Last week I spied Jonathan Channing showing someone around London Yard and, on enquiry, it turned out to be a CCTV supplier giving him a quote and some free consultancy. Great minds ....

Ron,

I am a 'new' property owner on the 'yard' and I have read with great interest you website and the history of the yard.
I also find the 'yard' website very useful to keep in touch and I know you put a lot into this to give us all that 'family' feeling.
Keep up the good work and is much appreciated.

Regards,

Patel

Lighting Repairs on the Riverside Walk

A London of Borough of Tower Hamlets contractor fixing the lights along the riverfront after much chasing by Jonathan Channing. The lights immediately along the riverfront are the council's responsibility. Jonathan is obtaining quotes for replacing the globe covers and the lamps on those inside the London Yard development. The aim is to brighten up the estate and assist with security.

Security Under Review

A sub-group of Board members has been set up to review London Yard security. They will look at the times of security cover; the visibility of the security staff; the extent and area covered by patrols and the actual contractor providing the service.
