Council by-election will be held on Thursday 27th June

Owners to be asked to Invest!

The Board of the Management Company are to ask Yarders to invest in their properties to improve the facilities of the development.

Communal Satellite Dishes:
The board, with the assistance of DGA, have been investigating
a number of options for the provision of communal satellite television across the estate. Initial quotes vary in price from under £90,000 to over £180,000 to provide satellite to all 312 properties. With costs on this scale, the board would first like to poll all property owners to understand the level of demand. A questionnaire will be sent to all property owners in the next few weeks, and the results considered by the Board. Watch this space.

CCTV:
DGA have now received quotes for the provision of CCTV at London Yard, including the cost of groundworks (laying cable between cameras).  The quotes are based on CCTV coverage across the entire estate, via 16 cameras. The costs will be reviewed at the next board meeting.  The board are also awaiting a security review of the estate and the recommendations of Steve McDonald (Metropolitan Police - Crime Prevention Design Adviser) who'll be meeting with Jonathan Channing in the next few weeks. It is likely that property owners will then be consulted as to whether or not they wish to invest in CCTV.

NOTE: Under the terms of the property leases a decision to expend monies on any capital improvement to the development, both the installation of CCTV  and communal satellite dishes, requires the agreement of 100% of the shareholders. In the case of satellite TV this may be done with 100% of owners within a particular block.

Christoph Noebel's Latest Exhibition

Christoph's latest exhibition of his collages took place at the end of May. Entitled "Recovery and Transformation" he, and his colleague Christiane Zschommler, took over Gallery Seven Seven at Broadway Market in Hackney for their joint show.

Christoph Noebel is a German artist living in Vermeer Court who has been making collages since the late seventies, inspired largely by German and American experimental and ‘political’ art, ranging from Berlin Dada, Bauhaus to Pop Art. This unique combination of technique and content is encapsulated in his concept of R.A.T. (“Recovery and Transformation”). It represents both his personal artistic approach as well as a general appeal to individuals to engage in social action.

Posts Still There

Despite numerous requests from residents and business owners, the parking posts in Amsterdam Road have still not been cut down.

Residents and customers of the business premises have damaged their vehicles on a number of occasions. The difficultly of maneuvering into the spaces, in a hurry, also encourages double parking.

Second Security Guard

The second Alamo security guard for London Yard has been appointed. His name is Femi OGunbanjo and he will work at London Yard on Wednesdays. Augustine, featured in last month's home page, works Thursdays through to Tuesdays.

If NTL calls ... Say Yes!

The cable company NTL has purchased the account list of ITV Digital in order to telephone or write to former ITV Digital customers offering them NTL's cable services. If, by some strange accident or oversight, NTL contact you, say "yes" enthusiastically. NTL is the latest of our local cable companies to have promised to cable London Yard and have so far failed to do so.
