Who
Let
Them
In?
A
dozen pictures have been stolen from Vermeer Court and Amsterdam Road in
the last few weeks. The perps could only have gained admittance by
someone letting them into the buildings without checking their bona
fides.
One
Vermeer Court resident says, "I saw some boys actually taking three
of the pictures. I saw the direction they headed (they were
on foot) so I went out in my car and asked questions. I found two people
who had seen the lads. I have descriptions and was even told where they
possibly lived. I have reported it to the police and they, belatedly,
came round and dusted for fingerprints."
The
lesson must be, however, is not to just let people into the building
without first checking that they have legitimate business!

were not be prepared to pay for such a project for a variety of reasons.
As
100% shareholder support was required, despite the board's desire to
introduce communal dishes, it has been unable to proceed.
Commentary
This rejection is causing frustration amongst some of the newly co-opted
Board members. It is being brought home to them that their role is to
provide existing services efficiently and at an acceptable cost to owners
and that London Yard will remain as it is for the foreseeable future.
This
means that London Yard owners can never be landed with a large bill for a
new facility. This is a good selling point over other local developments.
Some
Docklands developments do have provision in their leases allowing
expenditure on capital projects. Their owners can be charged large amounts
without any opt-out or time to pay.
It
is hoped that the new Directors do not feel the task is either too
frustrating or beneath their abilities because all London Yard owners need
the Directors. They are unpaid volunteers and they safeguard our property
investment in London Yard as well as providing a pleasant place to live.
Directors of high quality are essential.
Fortunately,
with the provision of subscription television, there is a no cost option and
no doubt the ingenuity of the Board will come to the fore and an acceptable
solution found.

A
"Hi" from Jonathan Channing
Hi,
everyone. Despite leaving DGA, I still read the website - shame about
communal dishes. We are trying to arrange for the same for the four
flats in the block where we live. One of the flats is rented out and the
owner lives in the States. Obviously we need 100% support too. I noticed
that Augustine had left. Shame.
New job is great. Working just off New Bond Street. Very posh. I've
never seen so many Bentleys. I've also seen Jade from Big brother,
Prince Charles and someone in the office walked past Fergie! (no, not
Alex Ferguson).
All
the best.
Jonathan
Where
Has DGA Gone?
Jonathan's
email (above) has reminded us of the level of service that he gave on
behalf of DGA, the managing agents.
Many
have complained about the lack of replies to emails sent to Robert
Bronson, his replacement. It is difficult to know whether he
doesn't like working for DGA or whether DGA doesn't like having London
Yard as a customer. Perhaps the Board will make enquiries.

Light
Bulb Joke
Q:
How many Windows users does it take to change a light bulb?
A: One. But they'll swear until they are blue in the face that it was JUST as
easy as it would be for a Mac user.
