Backed Benches

The Council has been very generous and has started to replace the wooded benches on the river walkway with some very stylish metal benches. Very, nice of them considering that they are positioned on London Yard land and not on river walkway land. Well, we can keep quiet about that.

Parking Administration Handed Over

The issuing of parking permits has been taken over by Shama Butt of the Managing Agents, Wood Management. For the last seven years the permits have been issued by an unpaid volunteer resident. In that time he issued over 5,000 permits and 3,000 letters.

There should be no change to the way permits are issued. Residents will still apply for permits with either an application form collected from the Security Hut in Leerdam Drive or by this website.

Congestion Charge?

Forget it!

For those looking for a way of beating the Congestion Charge try out the Gibbs Aquada (photographed at London Yard by David Thompson).

This amphibious car is capable of 100 m.p.h. on land and 30 m.p.h. on water. Park in your usual place; drive down the London Yard slipway and, within ten minutes, you should be in the City. A standard driving licence is all you need and the Aquada will need only a normal MoT after three years. Remember, however, that you drive on the right hand side on the river . Laminated parking permits will be available on request. www.aquada.co.uk

Odd Bins

This is Barry, our caretaker, showing off his new bins behind the business premises in Amsterdam Road.

In response to complaints about the odd odours and over-filling of the previous open-topped bins, these have lids and can be locked when they are full. Nothing odd about that.

We are Wireless-less

The Tritium wireless network, operated on London Yard by Carl Schofield, will close down in the very near future.

Carl is selling his home and moving to pastures new. Londonyard.com wish him and Naomi all the best for the future.

The Managing Agent's Lament

The objective of all dedicated Managing Agents should be to thoroughly analyze all situations, anticipate all problems prior to their occurrence, have answers for these problems, and move swiftly to solve these problems when called upon.

However, when you are up to your ass in alligators, it is difficult to remind yourself that your initial objective was to drain the swamp.
