Painting Starts on Memsaheb Block

The painting of the exterior of 65-85 Amsterdam Road has begun.

Van Gogh Court will be next to be painted followed by Frans Hals Court and Vermeer Court. Tenders are being collected for the work on Van Gogh Court and property owners will be consulted, shortly, by the Managing Agents. The contract will then be placed and the work commenced. This is likely to begin within the next eight weeks.

The painting of Frans Hals Court will be done at the same time as the work on the roof. Tender documents have been sent out to possible roof contractors and owners will be notified of the results.

Barrier in Place

A vehicle barrier has been installed outside the Memsaheb restaurant to dissuade the people who have been congregating in the car park from doing so. Despite some initial small confrontations, it appears to be working but the Management Company will be monitoring the situation. The barrier is operated by tokens or a remote control held in the restaurant.

Pickup Lit Up

In mid-August the fire brigade were called to this vehicle fire in the Frans Hals Court car park.

It is thought that the pickup truck (inset) caught fire because of an electrical fault.

New Borders Set Out

David Hunwick working on the Manchester Road gardens last monthThe gardeners have outlined the scope of new borders for the lawn on the riverside of Frans Hals Court. It will be a few growing seasons before the borders provide a physical barrier to the kids riding bicycles on to the lawn but it expected that, in the meantime, it will set a demarcation of the estate's property.

Now an Essex Girl

Angela Brown has sold her Rembrandt Close property and moved to Essex. Angela arrived in London Yard at its start and served as a director of the management company for a number of years as well as co-authoring this website's History of London Yard. Her journalist instinct will be missed by the Board but everyone wishes her well for the future.

Action on Scooters

The police and Tower Hamlets Partnership have pledged action against scooters.

The scooters and mopeds should have a valid MOT and the riders should be over 16 and wear crash helmets. Callers can ring the anti-social behaviour hotline anonymously on 0800 917 5918.
