End
of Summer Barbeque
Jamie
Virtue and Ro Mills (below)
decided that the end of summer should be recognised by a get-together of
Yardies. The
barbeque was organised in just a few days and everyone, who attended, was
pleased with the rare opportunity to meet their neighbours. Jamie and Ro decided
that they had found their life's work and have promised to organise future
events for London Yard residents.

Rubbish
Scheme At
its September meeting, the Board welcomed Kevin Maple who explained the
circumstances and policy of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets regarding it’s
soon to be introduced Recycling Scheme. He explained that all recyclable
material would be put in one reusable sack delivered to residents. Weekly
doorstep collection could be arranged for the houses on the estate but the
provision for the residents of the blocks was more difficult. The Board agreed
that Kevin Maple should liaise with Mark Tamuta to see if an arrangement could
be made for the blocks. The success or failure of the scheme at London Yard may
depend on the willingness of block residents to carry their rubbish across the
estate to designated rubbish paladins.

CCTV
and Mobile Security Approved
It
was unanimously agreed, at the last Board meeting, that Wood Management
Security would be employed to monitor the London Yard CCTV cameras, soon to be
installed on the estate. It was also agreed unanimously that a contract be
produced to transfer the estate security to Wood Management’s mobile
security service giving the estate 24 hour security coverage and a single
telephone number for residents to ring when they are concerned. Our present
security guard has been offered a new contract with the mobile service.

Party. Pencil in for Saturday, 29th October, and plan your costumes. More
details later.
External
Works
The
external painting of 65-85 Amsterdam Road has been completed and that the
external painting of Van Gogh Court is expected to start in the second week of
October. Bob Gould, the project manager, has said that if the repairs to Frans
Hals Court roof were to be done during the winter months a temporary roof would
be needed at an additional cost of 15 percent of the budget. Owners of Frans
Hals Court properties will be written to giving them the option of delaying the
repair until early next year.
