Shoreditch beats us to it

Residents of Shoreditch are benefiting from a CCTV system, which they are calling Asbo TV, similar to that which the management company are proposing for London Yard.

The London Yard system will have the advantage that it will be monitored 24 hours per day by security staff. As well saving £12,000 p.a. on the service charges, London Yard residents will be able to call up security guards, based a few minutes away in Heron Quays, any time of the day or night if they see something that causes them concern.

The management company will soon be holding a consultation meeting of London Yard owners which, it is hoped, will be attended by a police representative to promote the benefits of such a system.

No decision has been made to allow residents access to our system as yet but, as it is a wireless network, this could be done easily.

The cameras and signage for London Yard has already been purchased and partly installed. However, implementation has been put on hold until after the consultation meeting at the insistence of a few dissenters at the Annual General Meeting.

Van Gogh Roof Problem

An inspection of the roof of Van Gogh Court has identified a problem.

The consulting engineers, Charles Scott and Partners, have inspected the property and have reported that there are some major repairs required to the lead flashing and the capping to the gables. The capping has become loose and will allow water to penetrate or fall off onto someone's head.

The London Yard Management Company are arranging for further Section 20 notices to be sent out to owners and a consultation meeting has being organised.

It is likely that, once the scaffold is erected on other blocks, similar problems may become evident.
