Van Gogh Painting Finished

Hilton Abbey Ltd at Van Gogh CourtThe external painting of the window frames and balconies of Van Gogh Court has been completed weeks ahead of schedule.

Despite emails from a couple of residents claiming that it was madness to undertake the work during the winter months, Hilton Abbey, the contractor, proved the professional advice correct by completing the project ahead of time and to budget.

The scaffolding, paid for until the middle of March, will remain in place so that repairs to the roof leading and capping can be carried out.

Frans Hals Key Fob Pilot

Frans Hals Court residents have been provided with key fobs to replace the door keypad system. The fobs work in much the same way as clothing tags in shops.

Instead of remembering a number and entering it on the door keypad unit, you just wave the fob at the door. The new system is thought to be more secure because only those with a fob will be able to enter the building without being buzzed in by a resident. Security has been a concern for a number of years with unauthorised canvassers and photographers gaining entry to blocks.

The scheme is intended as a pilot and, if successful, may be extended to the other blocks. Each property will be entitled to an initial allocation of two fobs. Additional fobs will cost £10 each so it will be important that owners retrieve the fobs from their tenants when they leave.

Mina Steps Down

Mina BowaterDue to health and family commitments, Mina Bowater has stepped down from the Board of the London Yard Management Company.

Mina joined the first Board of the company in 1988 and has served us continually since that time. The present Board thanks her, on your behalf, and wishes her well for the future.

One of the Big Fish

Goldfish laying eggs in the London Yard pond. About 14 years ago a resident emptied his goldfish bowl into the pond - now there are hundreds of them.

The goldfish in the pond are getting bigger every year. This one must have increased in value not just size.

Frans Hals Barrier

The parking barrier at the rear of Frans Hals Court has given up the ghost after about fifteen years. The barrier will be replaced in the next few weeks.
