Fire in Leerdam Drive

Three fire fighting appliances attended a fire that broke out in one of the houses in Leerdam Drive.

The property was empty at the time of the fire which started in a bathroom. At the time of going to press, the fire service had not reported on the probable cause. The fire was extinguished using a small hosepipe. It is both interesting and reassuring that the standard response to a fire on London Yard was with three firefighting appliances including one with ladders.

We made the local paper this month when a diner at Memsaheb was attacked by youths.

What the Advertiser report does not say is that the altercation took place on the Samuda estate and not actually on Amsterdam Road. Police are looking for a man in his late teens with shoulder length hair walking an English bull terrier. Keep your eyes peeled.

Internal Decoration Cycle to Start

With all the blocks due, or becoming due, for internal redecoration, plans are being prepared.

The first block to tackled will be the Memsaheb block (65-85 Amsterdam Road). The Board of the management company are considering using a single small company to gradually work their way through the estate.

Garage Audit

It is a requirement of London Yard that all garages are owned only by London Yard property holders.

Over many years, the management company has lost track of who owns a number of the garages and is taking steps to regularize the situation. A notice is to be placed on every garage requiring its owner to contact the management company to establish ownership.
