Frans Hals Court finished

Frans Hals Court May 2007Yet another stage in the management company's task of bringing the infrastructure of the estate up to scratch has been completed.

The scaffolding on Frans Hals Court has been taken down marking the end of a project lasting eight months. Due to complications and delays this was almost twice the time originally estimated. It was, however, a fixed price contract and should not cost the leaseholders more. Additional air valves are needed to be fitted into the roof space to minimise the risk of condensation. The cost of this extra work has not yet been determined but it is not expected to be significant.

The next stage of the estate refurbishment is the work required on Vermeer Court and Amsterdam Road (14-96) which can now begin.

Mudchute Cafe revamp

The cafe at the Mudchute Park and Farm has been revamped.

Two young chefs have taken over the cafe with the intention of improving the menu and using produce grown on the farm. They have installed a wood-burning oven for baking their own bread.

The chefs serve up a lunch menu that changes daily and fresh scones are baked at 3 p.m. to be served with cream and jam for afternoon tea.

Profits from the restaurant will go to the Mudchute Association to help pay for the many services provided for local children.

If you haven't visited Mudchute yet, the entrances are in Pier Street and in the Asda car park.

Car Park reopened
