London Yard Gets Active

Dear Editor

I am writing to thank all the residents and friends of London Yard for their sterling contribution to making the latest Yardy Event, Saturday's Historic Walk and BBQ, a great success for everyone. There were 25 residents who enthusiastically took part in the 2 hour guided walk and over 50 people attended the lively summer BBQ on the lawns. London Yard successfully hosted and entertained their neighbours and friends of the estate, which was made up of a diverse group of people between the ages of 9 months and 80 years old, for over 9 hours! Congratulations to everyone who attended for creating a great atmosphere in which that could happen!!! It was, in my opinion, the best event we have hosted on the estate.

I would personally like to thank Steven Brindle, a local historian of Rotterdam Drive, who expertly led the historic tour around parts of the Island and Greenwich.

There were several other people who had a big hand in making Saturday happen, including amongst others, the BBQ Boys from Van Gogh Court (Andrew Bulmer and Justin Hareb), who BBQed for 7 straight hours over 100kgs of meat! Last, but definitely not least a big thank you to the other members of the Yardy Crew (Chris Inglis and Ro Mills) for their part in the planning, organisation and delivery of the event.

The largest group to thank are all of those who attended the event for their commitment to building a great community in London Yard. We look forward to seeing you and plenty of new faces at the next Yardy Event (Thames River Cruise from Greenwich) on Saturday 16 September - please keep checking the londonyard website for further details.

Best Wishes

Kate Hareb
