On-line newsletter of the London Yard Management c ompany AUG/SEPT 2000
Stuck In the Mud Residents with a river-view were kept amused a few weeks ago by the antics of a group of weekend sailors. This is what happens when you try to launch a boat from the London Yard slipway when the tide is out. It took a couple of hours for the Land Rover and boat to be pulled out with the aid of the RAC. So, check the tide tables first and don't risk driving your vehicle onto the beach. |
Ladders are of
little use on London Yard
This is what you use!
Clearing the guttering in Leerdam Drive means you need a head for heights. |
| Additional Waste Bins on the River Walkway
The Managing Agents have been asked to contact the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, which owns the River Walkway, to increase the provision of wastepaper bins. |
River Walkway Wall
It is expected that the wall between London Yard and the neighbouring development is likely to be demolished within the next month. There may be a delay due to a move by at least one resident in the new development to keep it in place. |
| Cable & Wireless
It is reported that Cable and Wireless are not doing any rebuilds this financial year and that the current cabling, on the Isle of Dogs, still lacks the capacity for the extension of the service to London Yard. This means that London Yard is still without a competitor for British Telecom as the telephone service supplier. All flat blocks can receive On Digital. |
Dissatisfaction with Gardens
At its July meeting, the Board expressed dissatisfaction with the progress made by the gardening contractors. The contractors reported that they had had difficulties during this growing season due to poor supervision of their workforce and the heavy rain during May. In future, a monthly report would be produced, by the contractors, which would be circulated to the Board. |
| Board Stops Publication
of Extracts of Minutes
The Board has rejected plans to publish extracts of the minutes of its meetings. The Board was split on whether or not to publish and so, as no consensus could be received, it was decided that Board matters should only be reported in the Newsletters (Paper and On-Line) for the time being. Ron Coverson said afterwards that some of the Board members have not yet been able to come to terms with the ability to quickly disseminate information to members which the internet gives, or even to appreciate the benefits. "Give them time," he said. THE ITEMS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE EXTRACTS OF MINUTES WILL BE INCLUDED IN THIS ON-LINE NEWSLETTER |
