Simon told the shareholders (owners of London Yard properties) that, after eleven years of providing the security, John and Keith Fanning had left us. He was sure that Lee Bolah would give us all a fresh look at the service and keep London Yard as one of the lowest estates for crime on the Isle of Dogs. He also welcomed Barry Morgan, the new caretaker.
As reported in the last issue of London Yard News On-line, Simon announced that a new full time gardener would start work on 1st December. Work would concentrate on areas neglected in the past.
During the meeting leaseholders took the opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions regarding the facilities and upkeep of London Yard which Simon Arnold, on behalf of the Board, welcomed.
Sue Willis and Christoph Noebel were unanimously reelected to the Board to serve a further term. Angela Brown did not seek reelection due to pressure of work. |

24hr Security Proposal Not Supported At the Annual General Meeting, Nicky Osmond (Van Gogh Court) suggested that a majority of residents would support a move to increase the hours of the security cover at London Yard from ten hours per day to 24 hours. It was pointed out that this would increase each service charge bill by between £100 - £200 per annum - an unnecessary increase considering the low level of crime on London Yard. The Chairman asked for a show of hands at the meeting to indicate the degree of support for the proposal. Only one other person at the meeting showed support for the increase. |
Web Site Congratulated
Tony Wicks, our webmaster, was congratulated by London Yard property owners at the Annual General Meeting. The web site has increased the flow of information within the development by publishing the on-line newsletter and providing routine information of use to residents. The Noticeboard feature, allowing residents to comment on the facilities available and even to advertise their car for sale, is particularly valuable.
At the moment only half the residents appear to have access to the internet. It is intended that production of a paper newsletter is continued when it can be produced. |

Put Postman Pat on the Mat The management company have, for many years, taken up mail delivery problems with the Post Office on your behalf. One Director even discussed it with the local Member of Parliament. The end result is exasperation. If you have problems with your mail - post left at a block entrance instead of through your door - post not delivered correctly etc. Telephone the Poplar Sorting Office direct and complain: 020 7987 5174 |
