|

|
On Wednesday 25th April the Canada Geese left London Yard after their eggs had been disturbed the previous Sunday. Eyewitness reports stress that the disturbance took place with the best of, although misguided, intentions. Someone
was concerned that the water level in the pond was rising and would drown
the five eggs on the island. The rocks on the pond were built up and the
eggs placed on them in the expectation that they would be safe from |

Geese Friend or Foe? To many the Canada Geese, which started using our pond for breeding about three years ago, were a welcome addition to the wildlife that our estate attracts. To others, especially those that live near the pond, they were a nuisance. They are noisy and create a mess on the walkways. The Canada Geese is protected under Section 1 (1) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is an offence to kill, injure or take any wild bird, or damage or destroy their nest or eggs, except with a license. |

Mudchute City Farm
Mudchute Park and Farm which closed in March at the beginning of the foot and mouth decease outbreak remains closed for business on. This is, in part, to be absolutely safe and in another to allow for a much publicized opening of all London City farms at one time. In the meantime keep an eye on the local newspapers. |
This is the latest version of the sign announcing Amsterdam Road and London Yard to those traveling down Manchester Road. The "Amsterdam Road" lettering is larger than before and "Shopping Parade" has been replaced with the much more suitable "Businesses & Services". It is also additionally lit from the bottom. |
